Agile and DevOps are two software development practices with similar aims; getting the end-product out as quickly and efficiently as possible. While many organizations are eager to employ these practices, there is often some confusion between the two.
- Agile is an iterative approach that encourages collaboration, organization, and feedback as a means of completing projects faster and more efficiently. It is typically used on the project management side of software development to ensure that all team members are accomplishing tasks quickly without sacrificing quality. The Agile methodology is carried out using smaller teams and segments, with continuous testing and changes made as needed based on immediate customer feedback.
- DevOps is a software development method that focuses on communication, integration, and collaboration among IT professionals to enable the rapid deployment of products. It is a culture that promotes collaboration between Development and Operations Team. This allows deploying code to production faster and in an automated way. It helps to increase an organization’s speed to deliver applications and services. It can be defined as an alignment of development and IT operation.
